Cracking the Code: How to Get People Engaged with Your Content

So, how do we crack the code? Is there a way to get more people to engage with the content you release? Well, I keep asking myself this question… and I hope it’s not just me who thinks that a viral hit isn’t going to happen overnight. Could it? Who knows… sure, it can.

One thing I’ve been wondering is: how do people actually find videos, and what are they searching for? I recently came across an article that breaks it down, and I thought I’d share my findings so you don’t have to read the whole article.

Here’s what I learned:

  1. Video over photos
71% of people discover content via videos rather than photos. Surprising, not really? Especially with how short attention spans are these days. But getting someone to engage straight away—that’s the tricky part… or is it? If you know how to do it, it’s not that hard. I’m not claiming we’re experts… maybe we are!
  2. Engagement drives decisions
People’s decision-making is heavily influenced by how engaged they are with content.
  3. Building trust and authenticity
Gone are the days of everything being glossy and perfect. Social media audiences now want relatability. They want to see real people in real situations, and content they can actually connect with (45% of people agree!).
  4. Clear storytelling
Remember how we were taught in school? Every story needs a beginning, a middle, a call to action, an end, and visuals to help it stick.
  5. Pacing matters
Fast cuts and rapid sequences are great, but if they’re too quick, people might miss the point. Good pacing helps viewers understand and remember your content.
  6. AI is your friend—not your replacement
Use AI to enhance your content, not replace the human touch.
  7. Representation and resonance
Make sure your content reflects real people and situations. Audiences resonate with what they can see themselves in.

Sound simple? To us, it does. But if it feels outside your scope, you know who to call.
