Nepal Trek with Action Against Hunger

In the lead up to the two year anniversary of Nepal’s devastating 2015 earthquakes, a team of London’s finest chefs, restaurateurs and hospitality industry experts have successfully completed their 6-day trek challenge through the Nepalese Himalayas, raising an incredible £116,000 for Action Against Hunger’s lifesaving work.

The team, including chef and author Nieves Barragan-Mohacho, James Knappett, Head Chef at Kitchen Table and Bubbledogs, and Dan Doherty, Executive Chef at Duck & Waffle, climbed to altitudes of 2,800m and left all home comforts behind to camp for the duration of the trek, with no access to showers or toilets.

Bear Jam provided the production support in the form of a 1 man film crew armed with cameras, sound equipment and a drone. Upon their return the project was handed to our post-production team to create the final film which can be viewed below:

Francine Heggie, Head of Challenge & Community Events at Action Against Hunger said: “Every year the amounts raised by our Ambassador Challenge team continue to amaze us. £116,000 is an incredible total and the team should be really proud of what they have achieved together. We are so grateful to our trekkers and to everyone who helped them to achieve this total by sponsoring them, participating in their fundraising events, or providing the support needed to make those events happen.”

The team’s fundraising page is still open for donations and can be viewed here.

All funds raised will go towards Action Against Hunger’s work to provide malnourished children with healthier futures in countries including Ethiopia, Yemen, Nigeria, Nepal and South Sudan.

Action Against Hunger’s Ambassador Challenge project takes place annually and sees teams from across the hospitality and food industries come together to take on a physical challenge in a country we work in, to raise funds and awareness for Action Against Hunger’s work. Now in its fourth year, the Ambassador Challenge and its dedicated team of cyclists and trekkers has raised over £454,000 to date.

If a charity you’re involved with needs a film or some video content, we’d love to hear from you so please do get in touch.
