Vlog series: December 2020

December Vlog – Wrapping Up 2020 with PR Stunts, Studio Shoots, Self-Filming Kits & Festive Cheer

December might be the wind-down month for some, but at BearJam, it was a flurry of fast turnarounds, creative campaigns, and clever remote filming solutions. From studio interviews and rainy morning shoots to animation production and self-filmed interviews, our final month of 2020 was a great reminder of how adaptable creative production can be.

🎬 Watch the vlog for a peek behind the scenes at the video projects that kept us busy — from McDonald’s and Knight Frank to itch, Copper Bay, and more.

McDonald's x Ready10 – A Rainy PR Shoot with James Haskell

We teamed up once again with Ready10 and McDonald’s — this time featuring the brilliantly outspoken James Haskell. The brief? Promote the Click & Serve function of the app with a bit of personality and speed. Despite the wet and windy conditions, the small crew shoot wrapped in a single morning and was turned around in just 48 hours. Originally made for Instagram, the video ended up on YouTube, clocking over 1 million views — a brilliant result for a quick-fire project.

Dog Poo Portraits – Yes, Really

Next up, a wonderfully bizarre PR video production for itch. One of our freelance videographers captured an eccentric artist creating “portraits” of celebrity pets using only dog poo. (We wish we were joking.) The simple setup — one shooter, one mystery artist — was elevated with slick post-production that added intrigue and humour, creating an engaging piece of brand storytelling.

Rewilding in Hampshire – A Long-Term Storytelling Project Begins

In December, we also began filming a long-term documentary-style video series at a Hampshire estate undergoing rewilding and regeneration. Over the coming years, we’ll be documenting the transformation — from the introduction of a micro dairy herd (tiny cows?) to the development of a market garden. This is exactly the kind of slow storytelling we love: authentic, meaningful, and deeply visual.

The Gut Health Doctor – High Production in the Studio

We had the pleasure of filming Dr. Megan Rossi, aka The Gut Health Doctor, in a North London studio for her collaboration with Usana. With plenty of time and full access to the space, we shot a beautiful corporate interview video and created several b-roll sequences — all with a premium, stylised look. And yes, she delivered her whole performance in slippers. Comfort meets craft.

Animation for Copper Bay – In English & Welsh

Animation also kept us busy. For Copper Bay, part of a massive regeneration project in Swansea, we delivered a bilingual animation in both English and Welsh. Working across languages and audiences, we created a clear, informative video tailored for this exciting urban development.

Self-Filmed Interviews with Chronobox

With remote filming here to stay, we’ve refined our "crew-in-a-box" solutionChronobox. In December, we sent out one of these pre-configured camera kits, including pro audio gear and tripod, allowing a client to self-film an interview with our direction via video call. The resulting footage looked and sounded far better than anything you’d get on Zoom, proving once again that remote filming doesn’t have to mean compromise.

Lightning Fast Turnaround for YouMove

We love a production challenge — especially when there’s a dog involved. Just before Christmas, we were asked to cast a nurse and a dog, find a location, shoot the scene, and deliver rushes... all in under 72 hours. The resulting clip was featured during the ad break of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, reaching a huge audience with a personal and heartfelt moment.

Knight Frank Finance – A Festive Team Video (With a Hat)

To wrap up the year with a smile, we helped Knight Frank Finance create a light-hearted internal team video — with a Santa hat passed virtually from team member to team member over video call. It was a fun reminder of the power of video content to bring people together, even when they’re apart.

Looking back, we’re incredibly proud of the video production work we delivered throughout 2020 — and more importantly, the way the BearJam team pulled together to make it happen. From studio shoots to remote animations, PR campaigns to aerial property videos, it was a year of adapting, collaborating, and getting creative under pressure.
