Success story
Cardinal Place
The ask:
The objective of this film was to create a warm, cinematic documentary capturing the transformation of Cardinal Place into a vibrant, people-first public realm. The film aimed to highlight the impact of thoughtful design, community collaboration, and artistic vision—told through the perspectives of those who made it happen. Anchored by a micro-influencer presenter, the story would blend interviews, real moments, and visual storytelling to position Cardinal Place not just as a location, but as a landmark of regeneration. Deliverables included a hero film for social, events, and online use, with modular cutdowns to amplify reach across channels.
The answer:
We produced a multi-voice cinematic documentary that guided viewers through the reimagined Cardinal Place, celebrating its transformation through art, community, and design. The narrative was told through the voices of artists, schoolchildren, local stakeholders, and Landsec collaborators, balancing grounded storytelling with cinematic visuals. Anchored either by a charismatic presenter or entirely through participant voices, the film emphasized a human-centered approach to placemaking, framed by the symbolism of the Four Winds and the Invisible Compass.
The film unfolded in four chapters:
-
The Dreamers – introducing Landsec’s vision and creative inspirations.
-
The Collaborators – highlighting community workshops, feedback, and design input.
-
The Artists – exploring how public art guides without dictating.
-
The People – capturing everyday use and the emotional impact of the space.
Natural sound, cinematic b-roll, and authentic participant reflections created an immersive experience. The closing voiceover reinforced the central message: “When people shape places, places shape people.” The result is a visually rich, emotionally engaging documentary that positions Cardinal Place as a living, community-focused landmark.
